Yeshua answered them and said, “My doctrine is not mine, but His that sent me.” John 7:16
Then Yeshua said to them, “When you have lifted up the sone of man, then shall you know that I am He, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father has taught me, I speak of these things.” John 8:28
In this session, Eddie reviews and summarizes how the Pharisees (or orthodox Judaism) views following the Torah versus how Yeshua taught and lived the Torah.
1. The oral Torah (Talmud) supercedes the written Torah
2. You are not to listen to the prophets even if they are correct if it doesn’t agree with the rabbis
3. Don’t listen to heaven itself or the voice of the God of Israel if it disagrees with the rabbis
4. The God Israel himself must follow the teachings of the rabbis
This gives us the context for understanding what Yeshua was saying in John 1:17, Matthew 15:1-2, and Matthew 5: 1-2
